By committing to the process during the junior year of high school, I can ensure that your student will have all the tools necessary to be prepared for the transition to college.
This package will ensure that your student is prepared to make an informed college choice and ensure a smooth transition. The college planning process for students with physical disabilities and health conditions requires time and intention. Your student will be guided through each step of the process from determining potential accommodation needs (academic, residential, dining, transportation and recreation), guidance during the tour process, support in thinking through medical needs and continuity of care, all the way through committing to college, requesting and navigating accommodation requests, and getting everything in place. The focus is on empowering and preparing the student for this transition.

Junior year of high school is a good time to start to allow enough time for students and parents to identify and think through the students’ needs, understand how college accommodations differ from high school, and to start planning, preparing, for the college search and selection process. Colleges vary in the types of accommodations they provide and with this package students and families will be prepared.
While we do not provide college consulting services, we are happy to provide you with referrals to college consultants who have worked with students with physical disabilities and health conditions to support students in identifying college fit, completing applications, and more. We can also sign an information sharing agreement with your school counselor or college consultant to ensure wrap around support.
Students with physical disabilities, health conditions, and co-occurring conditions have unique needs. In order to ensure that students are thinking through their college decision holistically, students should connect with disability support offices and start to plan for their independent living needs. We will meet your student where they are and prepare them for success.
